Age-Friendly Communities Symposium

As students at the University of Utah, our passion for addressing social isolation in Utah's aging population drove us to design a digital platform that has made a lasting impact. With a significant percentage of Utah's population aged over 60 by 2030, we recognized the pressing issue of loneliness among retirees. Our solution was a streamlined platform that provided easy access to service opportunities, fostering community engagement and promoting mental well-being.

Inspired by insights from AARP's research, our platform was designed to offer retirees a sense of purpose and measurable benefits through service. Our project involved a diverse team of stakeholders, including designers, engineers, investors, and a marketing team, all collaborating to benefit nonprofits, users, and service recipients. Notably, our platform stands out from existing products by considering digital literacy, physical ability, and transportation, ensuring inclusivity.

Reflecting on the completion of our project, we take pride in having built connections, combated isolation, and contributed to the well-being of Utah's aging community. The success of "Connecting Generations for a Brighter Tomorrow" exemplifies the positive impact that can be achieved when addressing societal challenges with empathy, innovation, and a collaborative spirit.
